On Sunday January 29th, Site-Specific was invited to participate in Southern Thailand Architecture Forum. Chutayaves Sinthuphan, along with Vipavee Kunavichayanont (Design for Disasters) and Ploy Yamtree (Independent Community Architect) were guest speakers at the event.
The topic of our talks was center about the role of architects as social benefactor. It was very interesting to see and hear what each of us is doing.
Vipavee was a founder of Design for Disasters (which Chutayaves was also a co-founder). This organization is a think tank that focuses on using design as one of the tools to evaluate the changes that are going on around the world including global warming, disasters and political effects on society.
Ploy and Chutayaves were colleagues at Thammasat University. She is an architect that has been working on many community based projects around South East Asia.
The talk was truly an inspiration. It was definitely a good recharge for the mind and energy.
